• Sesamin is known to possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Several studies have revealed that oxidative stress and inflammation play a major role in a variety of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) [1].
• Study showed a positive effect of sesame in improving clinical signs and symptoms in patients with knee osteoarthritis and indicatxaed the fact that sesame might be a viable adjunctive therapy in treating OA [2].
• Study results showed that sesamin can reduce the progression of diabetic retinopathy by ameliorating hyper glycemia and inflammation in diabetic retina [3].
• Study demonstrates that sesamin decreases the activation of NF-κB in order to attenuate allergic airway inflammation in a murine model of asthma, possibly via the regulation of phosphorylation of p38 MAPK [4].
